1. STATEMENT ON COOKIES

1.1. About cookies

Websites use smart and useful techniques to increase user-friendliness and to make the site as interesting as possible for each visitor. One of the best-known techniques is the application of cookies. Cookies can be applied by website owners or by third parties, such as advertisers who communicate through the website you visit.

Cookies are small text files stored on users' computers by websites. The information contained in cookies can also be used to track your browsing behaviour on other websites that use the same cookie.

Cookies are classified by duration and based on who sets them.

We think it is important to inform you about the cookies our website uses and for what purpose they are used. Their purpose is threefold: we want to guarantee your privacy, the user-friendliness and the funding of our website in the best possible way. In the following explanation, you will find more information about the cookies used on and by our website and for what purposes.

2. HOW RENAULT TRUCKS AND/OR ITS COMPANIES AND BRANDS USE COOKIES

Renault Trucks uses cookies to gather visitor statistics and store information about your preferences when browsing the websites. The purpose of cookies is to enhance the use of the site for you, the visitor.

3. COOKIES AND THEIR FUNCTIONALITY

Different types of cookies are used for different purposes.Below is a list of the most commonly used types of cookies and what they are used for.

3.1. Session cookies

A session cookie is stored temporarily in your computer memory while you are browsing a website, for instance to keep track of which language you have chosen. Session cookies are not stored permanently on your computer, but always disappear when you close the web browser.

3.2. Persistent or tracking cookies

A persistent cookie stores a file on your computer for a long period of time. This type of cookie has an expiry date. With persistent cookies, websites save your data and settings in case you visit them again later. This gives you faster and easier access because, for example, you do not have to log in again.

Once the expiry date has passed, the cookie is automatically deleted when you revisit the relevant website.

3.3. Proprietary cookies

These are set by the website itself (the same domain as in the browser's address bar), and can only be read by that site. These cookies are usually used to store information such as your preferences, which are used when you revisit the site.

3.4. Third-party cookies

These are set by domains other than the domain in the address bar of the browser and by an organisation other than the owner of the website.

Cookies used, for example, to collect information for advertising, customised content and web statistics may be 'third-party cookies'.

Because third-party cookies allow more extensive research into users' browsing behaviour, they are considered more sensitive from an integrity perspective. Most web browsers allow you to adjust your settings to not allow third-party cookies.

3.5. Flash cookies

Flash cookies (Local Shared Objects) are pieces of data that websites using Adobe Flash can store on your computer.

Flash cookies are a new way of tracking your behaviour and store much more information about you than with normal cookies. A major disadvantage of flash cookies is that you cannot find them in your browser. They are not displayed when you view the list of cookies currently stored in your web browser. Normal HTTP cookies cannot store more than 4 Kb of data, while flash cookies can store up to 100 Kb.

Flash cookies are similar to cookies in technical implementation. Almost all web browsers have a Flash player applied for displaying Flash presentations. A well-known example of Flash presentations is the video player on the video site YouTube. (Flash cookies do not only relate to YouTube, but apply to all websites that use flash cookies).

Flash cookies have no time limit. They remain present until they are deleted.

3.5.1 What we use flash cookies for

Renault Trucks uses flash cookies to collect data and set audio preferences.

3.5.2 Disabling flash cookies

It is not possible to block or manage flash cookies via the browser. They are stored in a different location: the Global Storage Settings window of the online Settings Manager on the Adobe website.

The Settings Manager can be accessed from the Adobe website but runs on your computer. The Website Storage Settings window displays all flash cookies currently stored on your computer. You can delete flash cookies from individual sites or from all sites at once. It is also possible to increase or decrease the amount of kilobytes of information stored on your computer.

No flash cookies are stored if in Global Storage Settings you disable the 'Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer' option.

If you want to be able to deny flash cookies by website, specify this in the Settings Manager.

If you disable flash cookies, we cannot guarantee that all features of our website will function properly.
